NGC 1291 ( Orion Optics UK AG 12 inch)

NGC 1291

NGC 1291, also known as NGC 1269, is a ring galaxy with an unusual inner bar and a diffuse outer ring structure. NGC 1291 is in Eridanus at a distance of about 33 million years.

There are several tiny galaxies shining through the outer ring structure, more easily shown in the 16 inch image.
