NGC 1512

NGC 1512

NGC 1512 is a barred spiral galaxy with a double ring structure and is approx. 38 MLY distance in Horologium. The inner ring surrounding the centre is bright with recent star formation. The outer ring contains most of the stars, gas and dust of this galaxy.

NGC 1512 is interacting with the smaller galaxy, NGC 1510 (11 o’clock  position) forming a bridge of material between the 2 galaxies. An extremely long faint jagged arm extends from the opposite direction, extending upwards.
