NGC 289

A very large barred spiral galaxy in Sculptor. NGC 289 is 3 times larger than the Milky Way and at a distance of 75 MLY.

This galaxy consists of a small bright yellowish central section, plus an extensive array of faint blue spiral arms extending out to make this galaxy an estimated 300,000 LY across.

Telescope.  16 Inch  F 4.5 Newtonian.

Camera.  S Big ST 4000 XCM OSC CCD.
