NGC 6744

NGC 6744

A large near face-on spiral galaxy with an elongated yellowish core dominated by old cool stars. The spiral arms are filled with young hot blue stars and small reddish star forming regions.

A small satellite galaxy is to the bottom left corner. NGC 6744 is approx. 30 MLY distance in Pavo.
