Robert’s Quartet (NGC 87,88,89,92)

Robert’s Quartet is a compact galaxy group in Phoenix at approx. 160 MLY distance. These 4 galaxies are a fine example of a close compact group in the process of colliding and merging.

NGC 92, the largest member shows a distorted arm about 100,000 LY long and contains a large quantity of dust.

Fields of view.  25 x 25 arc minutes.

Telescope.  16 Inch F 4.5 Newtonian.

Camera.  S Big ST 4000 XCM OSC CCD.
