47 Tucanae (NGC 104)

47 Tucanae.

47 Tuc is a large, bright magnificent globular cluster in the constellation of Tucana. This cluster is at a distance of 13000 light years and about 120 light years across.

A seven year study has shown that heavier stars tend to sink to the cluster’s core while the lighter stars pick up speed and move across to the cluster’s periphery.

47 Tuc and Omega Centauri are two of the most impressive southern sky objects.
