Abell 21 ( Medusa Nebula)

Abell 21 is an old large planetary nebula in Gemini at approx. 15000 LY distance. This phase in a star’s life is the final stage in the evolution of low mass stars.

Abell 21 was originally thought to be a super nova remnant. The blue star at the centre of the nebula is a white dwarf that created this nebula.
