Barnard 86 (Ink Spot Nebula)

Barnard 86.

B 86 is a very distinct dark nebula and one of many in Sagittarius. This and other dark nebulae are mostly made up of cold gas.

The open star cluster NGC 6520, on the edge makes for an interesting image. These 2 objects are not  connected,  NGC 6520 is about 5000 light years while B 86 is much closer at 500 light years distance.

As a contrast to the young open cluster, an ancient globular cluster called Djorgouski 2 is on the middle left edge of the image, below yellow star.
