IC 349 (Barnard’s Merope nebula)

IC 349  (Barnard’s Merope Nebula)

IC 349 is a tiny nebula , about 30 arc seconds (at the 12 o’clock position, and on the edge of the star) is completely independent from the much larger reflection nebulosity around the star Merope. IC 349 is close enough to Merope that its envelope is changing , owing to the star’s radiation pressure  and stellar wind.
