NGC 2070 (The Tarantula nebula)

The Tarantula Nebula is the largest and brightest region of ionized gas, surrounding a cluster of newly formed stars (R136),and is the most active star forming region in our galactic neighbourhood. NGC 2070 is in the Large Magellanic Cloud at a distance of 180,000 light years and is 100 times the size of M42 and would cast shadows if it was at M42’s distance.
