NGC 2070 (The Tarantula Nebula)

NGC 2070 is a H 11 area in the LMC  at approx. 900 light years across at a distance of 160,000 LY and a massive star formation region. The compact super star cluster  R 136 (35 LY across) contains very massive and hot stars  that produce most of the energy that make NGC 2070 visible.

Super nova 1987 A was on the edge of this nebula.

F.O.V. —  25 x 25 arc minutes.

Telescope.  16 inch F4.5 Newtonian.

Camera.  S Big ST 4000 XCM OSC CCD.

Exposure and Date.  12 x 900 sec.   Jan 2017.
