NGC 3132

NGC 3132 is nicknamed the Eight-Burst Nebula and the Southern Ring Nebula.

NGC 3132 is a small bright planetary nebula in Vela at a distance of approx. 2000 LY.

The bright central star is not the star that has caused this nebula, a faint close star that is lost in the glare of the bright star is the culprit.

Cropped to 18% of the 25 x 25 min of arc FOV.

Telescope.   16 Inch F 4.5 Newtonian.

Camera.  S Big ST 4000 XCM OSC CCD.

Exposure and Date.   15 x 300 sec + 12 x 900 sec.   March 2010,  April 2017.
