The Orion Nebula (M 42)

The Orion Nebula. (M42)

M 42 is an immense nearby star forming region at about 1500 light years distance, probably the most famous of all the nebulae. M 42 contains many stellar nurseries and the bright open cluster of stars known as the Trapezium. The Orion Nebula spans about 40 light years across.

NOTE.  Because of the huge dynamic range in brightness of this nebula , exposures of different duration had to be blended to show the full range of brightness.
